Fire Creek Prairie Encampment - On October 20, 1864, Sterling Price's Confederate Army of Missouri camped on the rolling prairie near present day Fire Prairie Creek east of the Little Blue River Looking from the Missouri Highway 7 overpass west down US Highway 24 towards Little Blue River (at bottom of hill). On the morning of October 21, 1864, Price ordered Marmaduke to capture the bridge over the Little Blue River on the Lexington to Independence Road.
